From the Collection:

The collection contains the texts of three speeches: (1) "Speech of B.F. Cochran at the University of Alabama, September 15th, 1841"; (2) "Oration: Incentives to Intellectual Culture in the United States, December 15th, 1841"; and (3) "The Utility of Literary and Scientific Associations in the State of Alabama" as well as a critical essay on the significance of Athens, Greece on later republics.
