From the Collection: This collection consists of materials created and kept by Marion, Alabama, Chief of Police T. O. Harris. The bulk of the materials are photocopies of police reports, articles, and other materials relating to Civil Rights activities in Marion, Perry County, Alabama, around the time that Jimmy Lee Jackson was attacked and shot in Marion. His death on February 26, 1965, led to the Selma marches. The collection includes thirty photographs of Civil Rights activities in Marion in February 1965.
