Scope and Contents
This collection consists of fourteen black-and-white photographs and four color photographs depicting African American tobacco farmers near Petersburg, Virigina. As Petersburg had one of the highest populations of free Black people before the Civil War, the group of people depicted in these images could have potentially owned the tobacco farm.
