Sherman Family Letters, 1906-1919
Scope and Contents
Letters to Maryland Sherman in Norfolk, new York, from her mother in Watertown, new York, who writeswith daily news and advice about church and Christian life. There is one letter from Maryland Sherman in Portland, Oregon, to her husband Francis A. Sherman in Powell River, British Columbia, Canada, concerning moving to British Columbia, as well as money matters and news of the children, with an additional enclosed letter forwarded by Mrs. Sherman from a man, Mr. R.L. Horton, who promises to repay Mr. Sherman an unidentified sum of debts. Finally, there is one letter from Mr. A. Lot Beatie of Oregon City, Oregon, to Philippa Sherman (Maryland and Francis' daughter) of Portland, Oregon, accepting her party invitation in a letter that is composed entirely as a telephone conversation between Mr. Beatie, the operator, and Miss Sherman.
