Cecelia Jarvis Letters – Letters from W. R. Sellon to Harry E. Jarvis, 1892-1905
Scope and Contents
Letters and postcards from Cecelia (Cece or Cecee) Jarvis of Glendale, California, to her husband Harry E. Jarvis in Burlington, Iowa. There are also letters and postcards to him from their children, as well as friends in California. The majority of the letters deal with issues regarding an orchard and farm currently tended by his wife and children, who await him there. Employment and money matters appear to prevent Jarvis from joining his family in California. One letter includes a hand-drawn map of some of the farmland. Many letters include discussion of costs and profits, written in solid figures, and other topics include social life, religious life, and school.
