John R. Lee Precis, 1862 - 1865

 Item — Box: 4273.002, Folder: 004

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of a precis in tabular form titled "Sketches of the Travels of the 117th Ill Infantry Volunteers during a term of 3 years," bearing the signature of John R. Lee of Atlanta, Logan County, Illinois. The precis itself is undated, but records movements that took place from 1862 through 1865. It records starting and finishing points, distance, and means of travel (by foot, rail, or water), but only rarely dates, and very rarely any further details. A very few entries briefly note encounters with enemy troops.
