This collection consists of one letter written by A. W. Dwight, a Lieutenant Colonel of the 122nd Regiment New York Volunteers, to C. E. Smith, Esquire. The letter discusses the reading and writing of personal journals. He also talks about the progress of the war.

Biographical / Historical
A. W. Dwight was a Lieutenant Colonel in the 122nd Regiment New York Volunteers during the Civil War. He was wounded twice (once on September 19, 1864 at Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia, and once on October 19, 1864, at Cedar Creek, Warren County, Virginia) before being killed in action on March 25, 1865, in Petersburg, Virginia.
