The Small White House for the Large Statesmen, circa 1864

 Item — Box: 4270.001

Scope and Contents

An original cartoon by Thomas Nast, showing the White House inhabited by oversized statesmen, most likely a reference to Abraham Lincoln. The cartoon is housed in a custon enclosure that reads Thomas Nast Cartoon to U. S. Grant, although there is no evidence to suggest that the cartoon ever belonged to Ulysses S. Grant.
