Research on Dr. Richard Henderson Rivers, 1957 - 1962
Scope and Contents
The collection contains one diary written by Emma Rivers Milner of Clearwater, Florida. The entries offer material regarding everyday life and activities as well as information and opinions relating to celebrities and current events including President Johnson, Peggy Lee, Martin Luther King Jr., the Academy Awards, the death of Adlai Stevenson, and the Watts Riots in Los Angeles, California, among others. The research was for a book about her grandfather, Dr. Richard Henderson Rivers. Dr. Rivers was the president of Wesleyan University in Florence, Alabama, before the Civil War. After the war the university became the University of North Alabama.
