Lillian Hackney Diary, 1937

Contains the diary of Lillian Hackney, in which she describes her daily activities during a vacation taken between May 26, 1937, and July 20, 1937. Most of the diary entries are short, three or four sentences. The leather-bound diary contains a calendar for the years 1937 and 1938 on the inside cover and "Historic Events on Every Page." The "Daily Diary" was published by the Bert Manufacturing Company in New York City, New York.

Hackney left West Point (probably Georgia) and traveled by car with Mrs. Williams to Washington, D. C., a trip that took them four days. Hackney stayed several days in Washington, D. C., and enjoyed sight-seeing, movies, and tours of the surrounding area. On June 3, 1937, Hackney went by train to Connecticut and lists different daily activities such as playing, swimming, going for rides, going to the library, and listening to the radio. She spent July 19, 1937, in New York City sightseeing before taking a return train to Washington, D. C.

The collection also contains one bookmark from the West Hartford Public Library in West Hartford, Connecticut, that lists the library hours of operation and is dated 1936.
