Scope and Contents

One photographic album containing eighty-five black and white images depicting scenes from Europe, presumably Germany and France, during World War II. In addition to the photographs in the album, there is also an envelope containing twenty-two black and white images from the Official War Pictures Company.

Biographical / Historical

Claude Leroy Roberts Jr. was born June 25, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and served as a corporal in the 417th Infantry Regiment, 76th Infantry Division, in Europe. After his discharge in 1945, Mr. Roberts received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Auburn University in 1948. He returned to active duty in 1950, and fought in the Korean War. He died April 17, 2000.
