Scope and Contents

This collection contains copies of the birth certificate of First Lieutenant James "Jimmie" B. Sturgis, Jr., a native of Louisville, Kentucky, photographs of presumably Jimmie and another member of the military, and two letters from Jimmie to his parents sent while staying with family in Bluffton, Indiana and while stationed in the Philippine Islands. The collection also contains six letters from various people to Mr. and Mrs. James B. Sturgis, Sr. discussing Jimmie's death while serving as a pilot in World War II. First Lieutenant James "Jimmie" B. Sturgis, Jr., a native of Louisville, Kentucky, was a pilot in World War II. He was shot down over the Philippines in 1945.
