Rolland Plattner Letters, 1944 - 1945
Scope and Contents
This collection contains 41 letters and two newsletters sent from Rolland Plattner to Harold Regnier while the former served a tour of duty in the Pacific during the last two years of World War II. Plattner's letters mainly discussed daily life in various Army camps in Hawaii, New Guinea, and the Philippines. He also inquired about life in Clifton, Illinois. Two letters (4/10/44 and 9/14/44) were censored, and eighteen were sent using the V-mail service. Copies of the newsletters the Daily Guinea Pig and the Flying Dinosaur were included in one of Plattner's letters.
