Lewis P. Schindler Letters, 1943 - 1944
Scope and Contents
All letters are written to a Mr. Lanier Merritt of Nashville, Tennessee, a friend of Mr. Schindler. The letters discuss the landscape near Camp Cooke, California, including the Sierra Nevada and Catalina Island. He discusses daily exercises, playing music, and his travel from Camp Cooke, California to Clerical school in Toledo, Ohio. He discusses the possibility of returning home and what he misses. He is on special duty at Camp Bowie, in charge of a depot of weapons. Some letters are written on Army stationery.
