One photographic album containing forty-nine images of the Alabama Lutheran Academy and College in Selma, Alabama, Christ Lutheran Church in Rosebud, Alabama, and Faith Church in Mobile, Alabama in the years 1946-1947. Rosa J. Young founded the Alabama Lutheran Academy and College in 1922 after her success with the Rosebud Literary and Industrial School in Rosebud, Alabama. Young received fiancial assistance from the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, an organization with which Booker T. Washington put her in contact, to establish a school that would train teachers and ministers. The Lutheran Church provided funds and materials, as well as a missionary, Reverend Nils J. Baake, to oversee the development of the school. From this foundation, the school eventally evolved into Concordia College, an associate- and baccalaureate degree-granting institution, that unfortunately closed its doors in 2018.
