This series contains the personal and professional materials of O. B. Emerson. Included in this series are the materials related to the various professional organizations with which he was involved, materials related to his many publications, and teaching materials. The folders containing the materials on Dr. Emerson's African American Literature course contain correspondence from Dr. Emerson to various professionals familiar with African American literature in order to establish an appropriate syllabus for the course, as well as correspondence related to the administrative approval for the course through The University of Alabama.
