Scope and Contents
The collection contains correspondence, concert programs, and other miscellaneous documents of Ephraim Madison Henry. Volume I is made up mainly of correspondence, the majority of which is addressed to Henry and covers the time period he was in school at the Tuskegee Institute and shortly afterwards. Volume II is primarily various programs for concerts by the Tuskegee Institute Choir or a visiting choir or musician. There are other programs from church services and other events. Volume III contains newspapers from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) and Tuskegee (Alabama), mimeographed sheet music, and other concert programs. Two of the programs in this volume are the program for the 27 December 1932 inaugural concert of the New York Radio City Music Hall in which the Tuskegee Institute Choir sang two numbers, and the Choir's 8 February 1933 Carnegie Hall concert.
