Admissions and Records, Dean of 1958-1960
Scope and Contents
The record group contains records created by or used by University of Alabama President Frank A. Rose. These records include correspondence, president’s reports, and financial reports and statements. One accession group contains the records of James Newman, who served as executive vice-president. Another accession group contains the records of Assistant to the President, Colonel W. V. Brown. Of special interest within the Rose records is material related to Governor George C. Wallace’s “Stand in the Schoolhouse Door” and the integration of The University of Alabama in 1963.
The record group contains nine accessions. Each accession arrived at the The University of Alabama Libraries Special Collections as a discrete group of materials. This arrangement has been retained.
