Scope and Contents
The photograph album consists of forty-seven Cartes de Visite (CDVs) presented to Edward Maffitt Anderson, midshipman on board the CSSAlabama, by friends in Liverpool, England, in 1864. The album contains photographs of other Alabama crewmembers and three photographs of Anderson. On the first page of the album, it is written: "To dear Edward from his fond friends, Ella & Hattie, Liverpool, July 22nd 1864". There is also a clipping attached to last page of the album, "City Beat," Savannah Morning News, October 31, 1967, regarding the CSS Alabama.
