Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Robert Smith papers contain letters from Robert Smith to his family between 1942 and 1946. The majority of the correspondence took place during his military training and deployment to England and France during World War II. The letters describe military life during Smith's training at Camp Maxey and Camp Swift in Texas prior to and including his deployment to England in 1944 and to France later that same year. The collection also contains a folder of miscellaneous community papers.
