Diaries and letter
Scope and Contents
The collection contains the typed diary of a northern women who moved to Alabama when her husband was relocated to an Army base there. In it she describes her perceptions of the poverty, poor living conditions, and general treatment of most African Americans. There is also a typed letter to the editor of a Washington, DC, newspaper decrying the actions and inactions of the DC health department regarding drug stores, kennel boarding facilities, and public restrooms in restaurants.
There are two copies of the diary, both of which are carbon copies.
