The collection contains original typewritten works by W. E. B. DuBois, including an essay entitled "The Future of Africa in America," a list of "Books on the African American," and a portion of Dubois’s CV. According to the donor, the writings were typed and edited by Hugh Smythe while DuBois was working at Fisk University.
