The collection contains a letter to Dan Motlow of Nashville, Tennessee, from Roger Brashears Jr. president of the Lynchburg Mule Traders Association, from Lynchburg, Tennessee, informing Brashears that October 26, 1985, will be the bicentennial of the first mule arriving in the United States, a gift from King Charles III of Spain to President George Washington, asking Brashears to write his congressman asking that he support a petition to have October 26, 1985, declared "Mule Appreciation Day U.S.A.". Also included is a copy of the petition as well as a suggested letter to send to the congressman.
