 File — Box: 3655.001, Folder: 12

Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This is a collection of letters written by Florence Evans and her husband Christopher R. Evans in Woodbury, New Jersey, to their daughter Madeleine (Evans) Franklin when she lived in St. Paul, Minnesota. The letters describe the daily life of the parents from pre-Depression America to post-Depression America stopping shortly before the inclusion of American troops in World War II. The letters have a familial and loving quality to them while the mother tries to keep her daughter up to date on the happenings in Woodbury. Florence wrote to her daughter almost every day and occasionally Christopher would include a letter with his wife's. These letters exemplify the daily lives of the upper middle-class in America during this time.
