Scope and Contents note
This advertisement for the traveling program, "Negro Education in Black Belt of the South," features a photograph of the Tuskegee Quintette. The Quintette included three women and two men: Mrs. L. N. Calloway, leader; Esther L. Spies, soprano; Edna A. Spears, alto; William Bolden, tenor; and Edward N. Broadnax, bass. The singers were students at Tuskegee.
The advertisement includes a sample program of songs and key address by Thomas J. Calloway, "Aims and Results of Work at Tuskegee Institute." It includes endorsements by several New York City-area religious leaders who had hosted the program at their churches, along with a statement by Booker T. Washington.
