The J.H. Woodward II Series contains three subseries: Correspondence, Business and Legal Papers, and Miscellaneous.
The Personal Correspondence Subseries includes outgoing and incoming correspondence, both business and personal. Outgoing correspondence is chronologically arranged; incoming is alphabetically arranged. Outgoing personal correspondence is primarily wartime correspondence to A.H. Woodward. Of particular interest within this correspondence is J.H. Woodward II's abrupt marriage announcement to his parents. Incoming personal correspondence consists of materials mostly from family members. Outgoing business correspondence covers the years 1935-1950. Most of this correspondence is as attorney-in-fact for A.H. Woodward or as a secretary for Woodward Iron Company. Incoming business correspondence deals mostly with environmental issues and concerns relating to Woodward Iron Company.
