Series Description
Correspondence, reports, legal papers, rules and regulation photographs, memorabilia, and miscellaneous papers of charitable and correctional institutions with which Thompson was involved. The series is divided in two subseries. The first subseries consists of papers of Judah-Touro Almshouse where Thompson served on the board of managers and includes papers of the Sophie Gimble Home for the Blind and the Feeble-minded that was at one time under management of the Touro-Shakspears Almshouse. The second subseries consists of his activities as a member of the Board of Commissioners of Prisons and Asylums, and the Board of Directors of the Prison Reform Association, as Vice-President of the Louisiana Society for the prevention of cruelty to children, as a member of various Catholic Charities, and his attendance at national prison and charities conferences.
