Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This collection contains materials relating to the 1984 excavation of the Rotunda, the building which originally housed the University of Alabama library, natural history collection, and assembly room. It was destroyed by United States Army forces on 4 April 1865. Included are newspaper clippings, memoranda, notes on the history of the campus, placement of buildings, surface surveys, and photographs, as well as material on the Pratt house and Madison and Jefferson Halls.
