Series Description

From the Series:

Duncan Dew Jr. of Mt. Hebron, Greene Co., Alabama and Foster Mark Kirksey formed a partnership as cotton factors and commission merchants on July 2, 1872. This partnership continued until at least 1889. The series contains business papers, correspondence, and record books of the firm.

Business Papers: Consists of a partnership announcement, receipts, crop liens and mortgages held by the firm, purchase orders, account sales notices, and cotton receipts.

Correspondence: While there are some letters to Foster Mark Kirksey from Duncan Dew Jr. and to D.D. Jr. from various sources, the bulk of the material is the firm's correspondence from July to December 1888.

Record Books: Includes orders, account sales, bills of lading, journals, ledgers, cotton sales and cotton shipped.
