Hall, James (Civil War soldier)

Scope and Contents This collection consists of a letter to James Hall from his brother Jeremiah Hall, a Union soldier, dated October 20, 1863, from Collierville, Tennessee. There is also a small framed photograph of a soldier notated "James Hall" on the obverse, as well as a pair of eye glasses with their case. The letter refers to one of the skirmishes that took place as Sherman's troops were moving east toward Chattanooga in late 1863. Jeremiah's unit was evidently one of those guarding the Memphis...
