Scope and Contents This file contains two letters from James B. Hebden and one letter from D. W. Gray, both of the 1st Regiment of Kentucky Volunteers, US Army, to Clara M. J. Gray, care of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Freight Office, Louisville, Kentucky. Hebden's letters are dated August 6, 1898, and November 1, 1898. The first was written from Newport News, Virginia, as the unit was shipping out to Puerto Rico. The second was written at Camp Ponce, Puerto Rico, on YMCA stationery. The letter from D....

Scope and Contents This file contains three letters to Joel F. Bledsoe, in Soldier, Kentucky, from three of the comrades with whom he served from 1901-1904 in Company I of the 27th Infantry Regiment--J. J. Kearns, Lewis Marshall, and Jim Franklin. The letter from Franklin, dated December 4, 1941, mentions "the night we were on guard at the beach at Tucuran" and recalls a soldier who died "after we arrived at Cebu."
