Contains manuscript of American Society textbook written by Lee Bidgood in 1918. This manuscript is an earlier version of a sociology textbook by Lee Bidgood and E. W. Gregory, Jr. titled American Society: An Introduction to Sociology. The manuscript is divided into 4 parts which are as follows: Part I The Society as a Whole, Part II The Types of Population, Part II Country, Town and City, and Part IV The Abnormal Classes.

This collection contains twenty-five letters from Brown, most of them to his friend and business associate General Ira R. Foster, Quartermaster General of the State of Georgia during the Civil War. It also contains copies of two letters from Brown to Georgia politician Howell Cobb, and one from Cobb to Brown, regarding appointing Foster as a special railway postal agent for north Georgia and north Alabama. The bulk of the collection predates the Civil War.

The collection contains a series of typed letters sent to family and friends by this Mobile, Alabama, resident describing his and his immediate family's experiences during and following Hurricane Frederick, which hit Mobile, September 12-13, 1979.
The letters are dated September 19, 20, 21, October 3, 9, November 7, December 10, 1979, and January 25, February 15, 25, March 7, 31, May 13, June 10, 1980.
