 File — Box: WSC002, Folder: W0154.01
Scope and Contents From the Collection: This letter written by O. T. Brown of San Marcos, Texas, to the president of the Texas Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, is more of a treatise on how no one had yet been able to adequately describe for the next generations the emotional part of the Civil War rather than describing any actual engagements he had seen. He mentions that he spent a significant portion of the war as a prisoner of war in a prison on an island in one of the Great Lakes near the Canadian border.
