Scope and Contents From the Collection: Columbus L. Hadaway wrote this thirty-three page memoir in 1913. Hadaway's memoir describes his Civil War experiences beginning with his enlistment on August 10, 1861, and ending with the surrender of Confederate forces on April 26, 1865. At the age of sixteen, Hadaway enlisted as a private in Company C of the Fifty-fourth Alabama Infantry, a division popularly known as the Griffin Rifles.
