Series Description
Includes materials pertaining to the Greensboro Light Artillery Guard (including a damaged pamphlet of by-laws), letters of introduction for John Cocke and John Hartwell Cocke of Bremo, Virginia, a slave's witness certificate and a list of slaves sent to Alabama in 1840, newspaper clippings from West Alabama newspapers, Masonic certificates, and the funeral notice of John Cocke. Also contained are an 1857 manual for St. Mary's School, various memos and a memo book, a recipe, a cover-slip for an 1868 pardon granted to John Cocke by President Johnson, brochures, and other items. Artifacts include an embossed leatherette expanding file folder, a sealed glass bottle, a pincushion, billfold, and a small metal object.
